Focus and Scope

Food and Chemical Toxicology focuses on publishing high-quality scientific research related to the safety, toxicology, and chemistry of food and environmental substances. The journal welcomes original research articles, review papers, and short communications that contribute to the understanding, assessment, and management of toxicological risks to human health and the environment.

The journal covers (but is not limited to) the following areas:

  • Food Toxicology: Assessment of natural and synthetic toxicants in food, food additives, contaminants, and residues.

  • Chemical Toxicology: Mechanisms of toxicity, exposure assessment, and the impact of chemicals on biological systems.

  • Environmental Toxicology: Effects of environmental pollutants and chemical exposures on human health and ecosystems.

  • Toxicogenomics and Molecular Toxicology: Genomic, proteomic, and metabolomic approaches to understanding toxicity mechanisms.

  • Risk Assessment and Safety Evaluation: Toxicological risk analysis, hazard identification, and regulatory toxicology.

  • Pharmacology and Toxicodynamics: Interactions between chemicals and biological systems at molecular, cellular, and organismal levels.

  • Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry: Development and validation of methods for detecting toxic substances in food, water, and biological samples.

  • Public Health and Food Safety Policy: Studies on food safety management systems, health risk communication, and toxicology-related policies.

  • Natural Product Toxicology: Evaluation of toxic and beneficial effects of plant-based, herbal, and bioactive compounds.

The journal encourages interdisciplinary research bridging food science, chemistry, pharmacology, and environmental health, fostering a comprehensive understanding of toxicological issues affecting human and ecological well-being.
