Abstract

The food industry faces various global challenges, such as population growth, resource constraints, and demands for food quality and safety. This study aims to analyze the role of nanotechnology in improving efficiency, quality, and safety in the food industry. The method used is a qualitative approach through a literature review of various relevant scientific sources from the past five years. The results of the study indicate that nanotechnology makes a significant contribution in various aspects, including processing, packaging, preservation, and food safety. Technologies such as nanoencapsulation and nanoemulsions can enhance the bioavailability of nutrients, while nanotechnology-based packaging can extend shelf life and improve protection against contamination. Additionally, the use of nanosensors enables rapid detection of pathogens and hazardous substances. However, the application of nanotechnology still faces challenges related to safety, regulation, and public acceptance. Therefore, policy development and further research are needed to ensure the safe and sustainable implementation of this technology. Nanotechnology holds great potential in supporting a more efficient and sustainable food system
